Which tape is best for lash extension application?
Which tape is the best for lash extension application? To be honest, there isn’t one. Each one has its pros and cons.
There are 3 factors that go into consideration on which tape to use:
1. Eye shape
2. Client sensitivity
3. Skin type
Let’s break it down (right to left): 🕵🏻♀️
🦄 The FOAM tape is hypoallergenic, latex free and extra gentle! It is perfect for clients with sensitive eyes, as it holds its place and doesn’t transfer any fibres! This tape can be used alone or with the 3M micropore tape.
✅Level of stickiness: MEDIUM.
🚫Disadvantages: very thick and bulky, won’t work for clients with high chick bones.
✅Removal: painless and easy.
🦄 The MICROPORE tape is a medical grade tape made for sensitive skin as well. It might become undone if the client eyes tear up, but it can be easily replaced of fixed. The tape is very thin and allows you maximum flexibility in layering it up, or using it to tape under eyes as well as upper lids.
🚫Level of stickiness: LOW.
🚫Disadvantages: will become undone in contact with water (tears), contains some fiber, that can transfer to lashes.
✅Removal: painless.
🦄 Medical Silicon tape is a latex-free, hypoallergenic tape that is gentle to the skin yet adheres well and leaves minimal adhesive residue upon removal during the lash application. It is economical and breathable. Due to the white color, it is easier to see dark lashes on it.
✅Level of stickiness: HIGH.
🚫Disadvantages: less flexible than the other types when it comes to under eye taping.
🚫Removal: might be painful on dry skin
